The first five minutes of the movie, John highlights every parents fear when they have a child or young adult with special needs. The fear that something will happen to them and the child will be left in the care of someone who doesn't know the child or young adult with special needs. Through out the movie John also highlights the typical thoughts and fears that "typical" people have about those with down syndrome. He truly shows in this movie that people with down syndrome really are more alike than different from you and I!

Loved this movie. The bond that was made with the actors were amazing. Definitely an Eye opener to the awesomeness of the mentally handicapped. I had an aunt and realized that they just learned slower but are still amazing humans. Not to mention the Love. Thank you for sharing your world

Miracles in Film
The deer scene in Different Eye was not in the script. As we were hiking and filming out of nowhere came a mama and a baby deer. We knew we had to make a scene involving this special moment which is very unusual for this hiking trial. Maria and I had been hiking this trail for over a decade and never had we seen deer before until this deer. For us this scene truly was a Different Eye miracle. truly showing sometimes God steps in to make our films better.

Charity
Thanks to HOPE Maria has an apartment to live in. As a parent with a daughter with special needs it is comforting to know she has a place to live independent in cast something happens to me. It’s the FEAR of every parent with an adult with special needs.
HOPE, Inc. was established by the Harbor Regional Center (HRC) in Torrance in partnership with a group of concerned South Bay parents and friends. They believed that all persons, no matter the severity of their disability, had the right to be a part of the community and to live where and with whom they chose.
HOPE’s mission is to create stable, affordable housing options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Dedication
Different Eye is dedicated to my daughter Maria who God gave us in our life. She was born not only with Down syndrome yet also with a hole in her heart. That hole has healed and Maria has gone on to heal many other people’s heart who have had the opportunity to meet her including all the cast in Different Eye. Though Maria has a stuttering problem that didn’t hold her back from giving her all in Different Eye showing real emotion in every scene. sometimes spending up to 12 hours on the set. All her skills were shown in her film such as rock climbing, bike riding, bowling, mini-golf, go-cart racing, dancing, karaoke and of course beating everyone at Uno. All locations and actors donated their places and time to make this special movie.

Special Needs
A self destructive former ballplayer finds inspiration and decides to live his life with courage after he meets and befriends a store clerk with Down syndrome.
“Where Hope Grows” was an inspiration to make “Different Eye”. For every parent with a special needs child, “Where Hope Grows” is a must see as “Grocer” the young Down syndrome man teaches the alcoholic former Pro baseball player a lesson in life.
Keep this film in your heart. See Where Hope Grows.
Born This Way is an Emmy-winning reality series that follows seven young adults with Down syndrome as they navigate life, pursue their passions, and defy societal stereotypes. The show focuses on their friendships, romantic relationships, careers, and personal goals, while also highlighting their parents' experiences and support.
Maria’s friend who lives in the same apartment complex on Banner Street, Cristina Sanz, is in this special series “Born This Way”.
In this episode I talk with dad and movie producer John Luksetich and his daughter, the star of the movie, Maria. He talks about his latest movie Different Eye and the roller coaster ride of making this movie happen.
